Another massacre in Colorado, this time inside a supermarket: a madman enters the King Soopers in Boulder, Colorado, and opens fire. The death toll is ten, including Officer Eric Talley, the first police officer to get on the scene.
The Boulder police speak of a ‘tragedy’ and a ‘nightmare’ in describing the incident. But they reassure that “the community that there is no longer any danger”. The alarm went off shortly after 2.30 p.m. (local time): the first officer to arrive on the scene was 51-year-old Talley, who was shot by the killer. At 2.49 p.m., a police tweet urged everyone to stay away from the area. At the same time, a massive deployment of police forces arrived in the area, surrounding the supermarket building.
“You need to surrender and come out with your hands up“, an officer said into a megaphone, addressing the gunman still inside King Soopers. Shortly afterwards, a handcuffed white man in shorts, no shirt and with a bloody leg was seen being escorted by two officers. It is not clear whether the man is the alleged killer. The police have not released many details, but it seems that he has been apprehended and is now in police custody.
