Alabama, tornadoes pummel the South
A tornado touched down in northeast Alabama yesterday and, according to the BBC, the violent disturbance hit the town of Oatchee in Calhoun County, causing severe damage to homes and people. At least seven tornadoes were reported during the day. State Governor Kay Ivey urged the public to “maintain a high level of alert”, while the National Weather Service urged residents to take cover early, rather than wait until the last minute. In 2019, more than 20 people, including three children, died because of two tornadoes in the east of the state.
