China has approved the use of Sinovac’s Covid vaccine for children and adolescents between the ages of 3 and 17, whereas until now it had only been authorised for use in people aged 18 and over. Manufacturer Sinovac Biotech’s president, Yin Weidong, told Chinese state TV channel CCTV, adding that preliminary results of the trial show good efficacy in minors and a reduced risk of side effects.
Yin added that Chinese health authorities will determine when to start administering the drug to minors, according to its vaccination strategies.

La Cina ha approvato l’uso del vaccino anti-Covid Sinovac anche sui bambini e adolescenti compresi nella fascia d’età fra i 3 e i 17 anni, mentre finora ne era stata autorizzata la somministrazione solo per le persone dai 18 anni in su.
Lo ha dichiarato il presidente del produttore Sinovac Biotech, Yin Weidong, alla tv di stato cinese Cctv, aggiungendo che i risultati preliminari della sperimentazione mostrano buona efficacia sui minori e rischio di effetti collaterali ridotto.
